I recently had an online session with Bret for anxiety. I had an important interview coming up and I wanted to overcome fears and worries about the interview itself. I do suffer with anxiety and self-doubt, and it can really be overpowering in situations such as interviews or social gatherings.
Bret really made me feel at ease straight away. He was professional and non-judgmental. He gave me some fantastic coping mechanisms for when I am feeling anxious. Followed with some breathing techniques. The session was in depth and informative. I felt so relaxed after it and felt like a weight had been lifted.
On the interview day itself I used the coping strategies Bret worked with me on. I felt calm, confident, and more importantly clear minded. Previously, the tight chest, self-doubt and worry would have taken over me.

Following a very impactful event I knew that I needed support but was not sure what type of support would be best. So when I first approached Bret I was very low.
From the beginning I felt a rapport with Bret. During our introductory meeting I found Bret a genuine and very good listener who allowed me the time to reflect whilst asking questions that allowed me to open up about my concerns.
At all times I felt his positive support and desire to help me.
During our sessions this guiding continued and enabled me to open up about events in the past that I had repressed and never allowed the emotions to be expressed.
Bret supported with examples and models that I was able to practice in between the sessions. During the flow of the sessions Bret was always available if I felt I needed to reach out. During our sessions I have learnt a lot about myself and how I thought and the impact these thoughts had.
I have now been able to change how I think about events and feel mentally better now than I have for years.
But the most important thing that Bret did was to recognise when, even though I did not see it at the time, I was ready to remove the support of the sessions and be able to support myself.
I know that if in the future I need to reach out Bret will be there with non-judgemental support. I know that I have now changed how I think and with the models covered feel I have a structure that will support me with any challenges in the future.
